Here are some fairly simple Walnut Heart-Shaped Keepsake Boxes that you can make! These are simpler because they are done on the bandsaw–even cutting out the interior. I made these out of a glued-up walnut blank, around 5.25 x 5.25 x 3 inches. These come together pretty quickly. Some of the key things to remember:

  • 1. Work safely at the bandsaw! Use push blocks or a pushstick.
  • 2. After your’ve cut the blank apart, be sure to make reference marks to keep everything together.
  • 3. Take your time, and make sure the pieces are in proper orientation before you cut… unless you WANT to configure things differently, and that’s okay!
  • 4. If you flock the interior of your box, I recommend you give it a solid coat of the matching color and let it dry. Then apply your flocking as directed.
