If you are considering a nutcracker for your next project, it’s not too early to start! Christmas will be here before you know it, and you are probably thinking that a nutcracker that YOU made would look awesome by the tree, or maybe you are thinking of making a cool gift for someone who will look on your nutcracker in awe.

Well let me tell you… these are not terribly hard to make. Yes, cutting the nutcracking mechanism might be a challenge, but it isn’t THAT big of a deal. However you cut this, just be careful, won’t you? A little lathe work, some time at the bandsaw, some sanding, and you’re practically done. (Oh, I’m kidding… you still have to PAINT this thing!)

Okay, not kidding, the painting and decorating stage is nothing to sneeze at. I used acrylic paints, because they are plentiful and easy to obtain almost anywhere… Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart… they’re everywhere! But, they aren’t super easy to use because it takes a couple of coats. And then, you may want to add belts, buttons, hair, clothing… the sky’s the limit. Whatever you choose to do, it moves you in the right direction.

Now come on! Time’s a ticking!
